KLEEB TO RUN FOR KANSAS HOUSE SEAT

Topeka—Overland Park resident and business owner Marvin Kleeb has filed as a Republican candidate for the Kansas House of Representatives’ 48th House District.

“The Kansas Legislature must prepare our state for the future by creating a positive business climate and strong educational opportunities,” Kleeb said. “My campaign will focus on what needs to be done to encourage economic growth, create and retain jobs and foster a favorable business climate in our district and the entire state.”

Kleeb and his wife Nancy have lived in the district for 16 years. He has owned staffing businesses for more than 23 years and is a partner of Allied Staffing, Allied Global Services and Peak Call Center Solutions of Overland Park.

“This is a wonderful place to call home and I would be thrilled to serve on behalf of our communities and families. It pains me to see businesses, jobs and economic development opportunities leave our communities for other states and countries,” Kleeb said.

Kleeb continued, “As a small business owner for more than 25 years, I have had the experience of building business, creating jobs, meeting payroll, struggling to provide affordable health insurance and benefits and operating under the regulatory and statutory challenges of government. Our state must focus on incentives and fair tax policies that will grow our business communities—not scare them away.”

Kleeb said keeping the state competitive also depends upon a solid educational system that produces well-educated and skilled workers who are ready to meet the opportunities of the future.

The 48th House District is currently represented by Rep. Jeff Coyler, MD (R-Overland Park), who is not seeking reelection.

“A citizens’ legislature like the one that serves Kansas needs strong voices experienced in a variety of areas—especially the business community ” Rep. Coyler said. “Our state faces some tough economic times. We need a perspective like Marvin’s in the Kansas House to keep our state going and growing. I believe he will serve our district well.”

Senator Dennis Wilson, current State Senator and former Johnson County Treasurer, endorsed Kleeb saying, “We need the perspective and insight of business people in the legislature to represent the concerns of small business and the best interests of their employees upon whom our state’s economy and stability depend.”

Representative Kevin Yoder (R-Overland Park) echoed Rep. Coyler and Senator Wilson’s endorsements of Kleeb, pointing out his respect for differing opinions and his ability to bring all sides together.

“Marvin is known for his voice of reason and common sense—the good of the Country and the State come first. He will use those same consensus-building skills to bring lawmakers together to solve problems and improve our state. It would be a pleasure to serve with him in the Kansas House,” Rep. Yoder said.

The 48th House District is located in Johnson County and includes parts of Olathe, Overland Park and Oxford Township.
